Day 12

1/13/08
No real change in Laurie's condition today.  Her heart rate remains high, between 100 and 105. She is receiving a drug to keep her blood pressure elevated to push oxygen to her brain.   They are still keeping her sedated and cool to minimize brain activity and swelling.  She received a chest x-ray this morning, and when they took her off sedation, her heart rate went over 140, and the oxygen level in the brain went down.  So they immediately put her back on sedation and left her sedated for the rest of the day.

Laurie and the family had many visitors today.  We appreciated all of the well wishes, love, and food.  Thanks Betsy and Melissa for bringing pizza.  Laurette spent a long time talking to Laurie, and I am sure she heard every word.  Jim came in read scriptures to Laurie.   Wende said that Laurie's heart rate went down about 25 beats while he read to her.  Thanks Jim!

Katie and Wende are headed back to their respected universities. I know they will miss seeing their mother, and hopefully they can concentrate on their studies.

It was wonderful to spend time with the Baden Family yesterday! And to talk to Laurie! I do believe she hears us! So don't stop reading or talking to her!! What strength you give each other!
Those of you who know Laurie, know what a fighter she is. This combined with the love of her family and friends and the incredible power of prayer will see us through this!
Jim H., I am also a member of Riverstone, so I imagine half the congregation is praying for Laurie and family! That is AWESOME!
God is Good! I pray Lord, that you wrap Laurie in your healing power, that the Holy Spirit would bring her comfort. I believe that through You all things good can happen!

Thanks to Lauries family for keeping us all informed on how their wonderful mom is doing. I am thinking about her all the time, as I know everyone else is. Joanne

I was blessed to visit and personally meet the Baden family.Their love for each other is evident.I was blessed to read scripture, read prayers and pray WITH Laurie. Him not me. I did notice that before I started speaking, Laurie's breathing was quick and her mouth was open. I had my eyes down as I was reading, when I looked up and at her...her mouth was closed and her breathing even. I also held her hand as I prayed and read. Human touch is not overrated, especially in prayer.
Laurette, if you would like, please call me. We could possibly rendevouz and minister to Laurie together. When two or more are gathered in His name...He is there. 770-363-4204
